TomTom GPS app now links to Facebook, Twitter
TomTom has updated its GPS app for the iPhone so it can now be integrated with Facebook and Twitter as well as linked to email and SMS.
It allows users to share their exact location and connect with their social network friends on the move.
The refreshed TomTom app also allows users to navigate to an event which has been accepted through Facebook.
It can now plan the routes based on information obtained from these Facebook events and places.
So if a friend has checked in nearby, the TomTom app will provide turn-by-turn navigation to their location.
When drivers reach their destination, they can now share the location to their Facebook news feed and Twitter followers directly from the app without the need to shut down the TomTom app and fire up the official Facebook and Twitter apps.
The app can also be used to share your location via an email or text message to selected contacts from your address book.
Of course there’s still turn-by-turn navigation with spoken street names and real time alerts for speed and red light cameras.
Even if you receive a call on your iPhone, TomTom still works in the background thanks to the iOS multitasking support.
With the help of HD traffic, the TomTom app can also help drivers find the quickest route to their destination.
Drivers can also receive accurate arrival time estimates thanks to IQ Routes which looks at traffic flow depending on the time of day or night you’re driving.
The TomTom navigation app is available now in the iTunes App Store for $74.99 while existing customers who downloaded the previous version of the app can simply download a free update.
