Spotify reveals most streamed musical artists of 2013
Spotify, the popular music streaming service, has just released its most popular artists, songs and albums for the year in Australia and globally.
The Spotify Year in Review has revealed the listening habits of more than 24 million users from all over the world.
More than 4.5 billion hours– almost 50,000 years – of music was streamed on Spotify globally in the past 12 months.
This year Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s was the most streamed artist with Can’t Hold Us taking out the title as the most streamed song of the year.
Avici’s Wake Me Up was the second most streamed song with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis also taking out third place with Thrift Shop.
Daft Punk’s Get Lucky took out the title as the most streamed song in a single day (April 20) and came in as the fourth most streamed song overall.
In Australia, Daft Punk took out the title as the most streamed artist followed by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
Flume capped off a huge year as the most streamed Australian artist while his self-titled debut album was the most streamed Australian album.
His single Holdin’ On featured in the top 10 most streamed songs of the year.
Lorde, the 17-year-old prodigy, was the most streamed female artist in Australia with her smash Royals – the third most streamed song in the country.
Rihanna held on to her crown as the most streamed female artist for the second year in a row with Lana Del Ray and Pink taking out second and third respectively.
