There are new products in the Google Nest family – the Nest Doorbell, a battery-powered wireless Nest Cam, a new wired Nest Cam and Nest Cam with floodlight – which simplify home security without compromising privacy and protection.
Google says it wanted to make it easier for customers to have a connected home while still being able to receive smarter alerts as well as work with other Nest products like displays.
That means you can keep an eye on the backyard all the front door from a Google Nest Hub display and see who’s at your front door.
The wireless products offer greater flexibility when it comes to installation and managing the devices while still maintaining your privacy and security.
GOOGLE NEST CAM – $329
This is the first Google Nest camera that is battery powered and is suitable to use both indoors and outdoors.
And without the worry of being connected with the cable, the installation options are far greater.
You can simply install the magnetic base, attach the camera and angle it towards the area you want to cover.
If you would prefer to place it indoors, Nest Cam can also be positioned on an optional stand that is sold separately.
The camera has two-way audio so you can interact with the person in front of the camera and it can also stay connected and store up to one hour of recorded events in its local memory if your wi-fi goes down or in the event of a blackout.
Users can also receive alerts and notifications with Nest Cam able to tell the difference between a person a vehicle and an animal.
GOOGLE NEST DOORBELL – $329
The Nest Doorbell connects through your home wireless network and can tell you what’s happening at your door in real time.
Users have the choice of answering the door and talking to their visitor or leaving a pre-recorded message.
The device can also provide you with notifications and can distinguish between packages, animals and vehicles.
The Nest Doorbell offers a 3:4 aspect ratio which means you can see people on your doorstep from head to toe as well as any packages that may have been left on the ground.
GOOGLE NEST CAM WITH FLOODLIGHT – $549
This takes all the features of the Nest Cam outdoor camera and adds a floodlights which activates when motion is detected.
It’s ideal to illuminate passages and entrances to your house to make it easier to navigate in the dark as well as deter intruders.
GOOGLE NEST CAM – $179
The second generation wired Google Nest Cam has also been unveiled and is the most affordable device in the range.
All of the new Google Nest Cams are fully integrated with the Google Home app which works with any compatible Android or iOS device.
Nest Cam, along with Nest Doorbell and Nest Cam with floodlight, also have local storage backup which means they can record up to one hour on device if your wi-fi goes down.
The battery powered models can also continue to operate if your home is experiencing a blackout.
The new battery powered Nest Cam and Nest Doorbell will be available on August 25 and are available to pre-order from today from Google Store, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks and The Good Guys.
Customers who pre-order will also receive a gift of a second generation Nest Hub from selected retailers.
The Nest Cam with floodlight and the new wired indoor Nest Cam will be released later this year.
