Pilots who want to fly any of DJI’s impressive range of drones will now have to pass a knowledge quiz about the rules and regulations before being able to take to the air with their unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
DJI, the world’s leading drone manufacturer, has set the quiz inside the DJI GO and DJI GO 4 apps which are used to connect to and control the drones.
The quiz is made up of nine basic questions about the safe use of drones in Australia based on the Civil Aviation Safety Authorities (CASA) rules and regulations.
It is just another way for DJI to demonstrate to pilots the need to understand where you can and can’t fly drones and that safety must be of the utmost importance.
“As drones become more portable, intelligent and accessible, we expect to see more enthusiasts using this technology at home, on their travels and as a complementary tool for their work,” said Adam Welsh, Head of Asia Pacific Public Policy at DJI.
“The majority of pilots fly safely and responsibly but DJI has taken this step so that new drone pilots have an opportunity to learn and understand some simple safety rules as part of their first flying experience.”
Now when you connect to a DJI drone with the app all of the questions mist be answered correctly before you can start your flight.
Pilots can continue to take the quiz until they get all questions right.

“It will help new DJI drone owners understand the recreational drone rules in Australia.
“CASA supports efforts by manufacturers like DJI that develop innovative solutions such as the Knowledge Quiz, and assist drone owners to know their responsibilities as a recreational drone pilot and how to operate their drone safely.”
DJI launched the quiz in the US and the UK with support from the local flight safety authorities before introducing it in Australia.
DJI has already built a number of flight safety features and technologies into its apps.
– Automatic altitude limitations built into its flight control apps to help pilots ensure they fly at safe altitudes.
– Sense-and-avoid technology which uses sensors to identify obstacles and either stop short of them or navigate around them.
– Return-to-home features which automatically guide a drone back to its takeoff point if it is low on battery or loses connection.
– Intelligent Battery systems to manage battery life and monitor temperature in real time, maintaining battery health and warn of potential battery malfunctions before and during flight.
