New iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus cases revealed – but will last year’s cases still fit?
On the same day the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus were announced, case manufacturers were already showcasing their latest products. But will existing iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus cases fit the new iPhones?
The iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus are 0.2mm thicker than last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
One of the first questions customers were asking was whether the existing cases would fit the new models.
Australian case manufacturers have been in contact with Tech Guide to assure us that the existing cases will still fit the slightly thicker new devices.
Proper, Toffee, Cygnett and STM all confirmed the 0.2mm increase in thickness for the new iPhones won’t affect the fit of the current line-up of cases.
So if you’re thinking of upgrading from the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus to the new devices, your existing case should still fit just fine.
Cygnett has already unveiled its range of cases and screen protectors for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
These include the UrbanShield Tech ($39.95) made with a tactile silicone panel to help you keep a grip on your, the Flex360 ($39.95) which is made of liquid silicone technology for a soft touch feel and the UrbanWrap ($29.95) – a leather-feel case for a touch of luxury.
All of Cygnett’s cases will be available when the new iPhones go on sale on September with the exception of the Flex360 which will be available in early October.
STM also has some iPad Pro cases in the planning stages that work with the smart keyboard and they will also have a place to store the Apple Pencil.
