Wilson Parking has created a new integration to its Apple CarPlay-enabled app which will allow drivers to discover, book and pay for their parking from the car’s display.
Now drivers with the Wilson iOS app with CarPlay will be able to view their nearest car parks on their in-car display including the name of the car park, its location and the parking rates.
Once the driver chooses the car park it will seamlessly link to Apple Maps and provide navigation to their chosen car park.
Wilson has worked with Perth-based app developers Adapptor and Kombu on the CarPlay app integration which is now able to process a payment.
“Even with restrictions lifting in many parts of Australia, our customers are looking for more ways to stay COVID-safe while they resume their commutes and travel plans,” Wilson Parking Chief Executive Officer Stephan Wuffli said.
“The CarPlay integration allows our customers to conveniently access the functions of our existing parking app from their car’s dashboard, reducing driver stress of finding a park and the city’s overall congestion as more return to the workplace.
“It all comes down to offering convenience to commuters.
“The release of the Wilson Parking CarPlay app reiterates our commitment to investing in tech that responds to commuter behaviour, trends and needs, and we are proud to bring this to Australian drivers.”
This app integration is aimed at drivers who regularly book through the Wilson Parking app and for those who don’t want to waste their time researching and comparing car parks.
The Wilson Parking app on CarPlay will show drivers up to 12 of the nearest car parks and the best rates.
And once a bay is booked, Apple Maps will give drivers turn by turn directions to find the car park and park their car.
“The existing Wilson Parking app has already been very well received by commuters, with over 16,500 ratings and an average 4.8 out of 5 stars rating,” says Richard Giles from developer Adapptor.
“Our goal with the CarPlay integration was to create an even faster, simpler customer experience that seamlessly fits into the Wilson Parking customer’s daily commute.”
The Wilson Parking app’s Book Again feature gives customers a quick view of their previously booked car parks to make regular journeys even easier.
The app also provides a way to book personal or business parking.
“We have optimised the CarPlay experience based on user behaviour within the Wilson Parking app,” said Kombu’s director Craig Winley.
“30 per cent of Wilson Parking app users regularly book the same car parks during the same time period, so we’ve made it easy for ‘book again’ commuters to complete their reservation in just a few quick steps.”
For use the Wilson Parking iOS app with latest CarPlay integration, users have to update to the latest version of the app and ensure they are running iOS 14 on their iPhone.
Drivers will then be able to use the parking booking feature and link a credit card to their account.
