Google has launched the compact Fitbit Edge – a new smart fitness tracker that brings intelligent insights and personalised coaching to your wrist in a slim form factor.
The Fitbit Edge is a device that sits between a smartwatch and a fitness band that’s comfortable to wear all day and will also include the Google Health Coach to help you reach your health and fitness goals.
The device is small and slim and is a reliable daily companion to monitor your health and workouts and deliver intelligent insights and advice.
The device includes Fitbit’s largest and brightest tracker screen with 40% more viewing area than previous models.
The Hybrid OLED display is easy to read even in direct sunlight and includes glanceable tiles and a wide choice of clock faces.
The Fitbit Edge is just 11.5 mm thin and is 45 per cent lighter than the Apple Watch Series 12.
It is built on the same platform as Pixel Watch 5 and puts all your information right at your fingertips.
The complications present your essential stats right in front of you, including steps and weather, right through to on-demand workouts.
It also includes everyday features like Google Maps, media controls, as well as call and message notifications.
The Fitbit Edge’s exercise app lets you track more than 50 exercise modes with glanceable real-time guidance.
It also has built-in precision GPS, which is 40 per cent better than previous generations.
And the device is also smart enough to recognise and categorise up to 100 workouts, which include outdoor runs and rides, as well as walks, even if you forget to hit the start button.
On the health side the Health Guardian tracks important changes in your health and wellness in the background, including blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends, and high- and low-heart-rate alerts.
With Google Health Premium your coach can help you interpret these changes, provide personalised lifestyle and wellness tips, and adapt your fitness plan.
It also has on-wrist ECG as well as a dedicated skin temperature sensor that tracks nightly fluctuations to complement sleep tracking.
On the battery side the Fitbit Edge can run for up to 7 days on a full charge even while tracking workouts and sleep stages.
And if you need a quick top-up, you can charge for just 5 minutes and receive a full day of battery life.
Fitbit Edge comes in four distinct finishes paired with our ultra-soft Active Bands – Obsidian (Matte Black case), Fog (Polished Silver case), Olive (Satin Pyrite case), and Canyon (Warm Gold case).
Users can personalise their look with a full line of interchangeable accessories, including breathable Active Sport band, sleek Magnet band, and the elevated Metal Links band.
The Fitbit Edge will be priced at $269 and goes on sale on October 28.
