Leading drone company DJI has released the Mavic 4 Pro – a drone that takes aerial photography and videography to a whole new level with a 100MP Hasselblad main camera, dual tele cameras and a 360-degree rotation gimbal.
It also offers up to 51-minutes of flight time and improved omni-directional obstacle sensing.
Tech Guide took a hands-on look at the new DJI Mavic 4 Pro – this is a serious drone with serious features for the serious videographer.
It offers a plethora of customisation options to suit all shooting conditions and content production choices.
“When we launched the previous model, this was the first drone with a triple camera combination allowing content creators to switch between shot composition with just one tap,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Product Experience Director at DJI.
“The Mavic 4 Pro’s innovative 360° rotation Infinity Gimbal goes one step further and offers even more shooting options.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing how people experiment with their shots and the cinematic possibilities that this opens up.”
The drone has foldable props with sensors providing remarkable obstacle detection to prevent pilots flying accidentally into objects.
The DJI RC Pro 2 controller (which comes with the Creator Combo) has also had an upgrade. The 7-inch screen sits above the controller on a swivel base so it can be angled into a comfortable viewing position.
This helped us angle the screen to avoid reflections and direct sunlight although the display can still be easily viewable in bright conditions.
But it’s all about the advanced triple camera system which offers focal lengths of 28mm, 70mm and 168mm so you’re able to capture everything from wide landscape shots and close ups.
And all three cameras have Dual Native ISO Fusion to combine high and low ISO settings and RAW stacking of up to five frames.
The main 4/3 Hasselblad camera has a 100MP sensor with support for Hasselblad popular Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) for outstanding colour fidelity.
The f/2.0 to f/11 aperture means you can also achieve excellent video in low light.
The 70mm tele camera has a 48MP 1/1.3-inch sensor and f/2.8 aperture while the168mm telecamera is powered by the 50MP 1/1.5-inch sensor and a wide f/2.8 aperture.
When it comes to video, here’s where the DJI Mavic 4 Pro really flexes its muscles.
All three camera support 4K video at 60fps while the main Hasselblad camera offers 6K/60fps HDR video with a dynamic range of up to 16 stops.
The medium tele and tele cameras have 14 stops and 13 stops respectively.
You can achieve some stunning slow motion with the main and medium tele camera with 4K/120fps while the tele camera can do 4K/100fps.

For the first time the Mavic 4 Pro has a new gimbal that can rotate 360 degrees and upwards up to 70 degrees.
You can also flip the camera to capture in portrait mode to create content made to share on TikTok and Instagram.

Users can save their images and videos to a memory card or utilise the 64GB internal storage. That internal storage goes up to 512GB if you purchase the Mavic 4 Pro in the Creator Combo.
And it’s easy to transfer files from the drone with the DJI Fly App at speeds up to 80MB/s over Wi-Fi 6.

There are six high-performance low-light fisheye sensors and dual processors to make the Mavic Pro 4 even safer to fly.
It has omnidirectional obstacle avoidance even in low light.
Also onboard is ActiveTrack 360 which allows for cinematic tracking with improved stability.
The 95Wh battery offers up to 51 minutes of flight time with a top speed of 90km/h and range of a remarkable 41km.
