DJI Neo is DJI’s smallest and lightest drone that can take off from the palm of your hand

We’ve seen DJI release many drones over the years but its latest can fit in the palm of your hand and be used without a remote control. It’s the DJI Neo which weighs in at just 135g and can take your selfies to a whole new level.

Priced at $299, the DJI Neo brings all the features we’ve come to expect from the companies drones and packs them into the smallest and lightest unit it has ever produced.

“At DJI we are always studying everyday camera use so that we can help people capture their videos and photos in the most convenient way possible,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Creative Director at DJI.

“The DJI Neo strives to give people the latest tech in the smallest form factor so that they can capture their daily lives, saved as treasured memories, safely and with ease.”

The DJI Neo includes features like AI subject tracking, Quickshots and offers 4K stabilised video with the flight time of up to 18 minutes.

And there’s no need to have a remote control.

All you need to do is press the drone’s mode button to select your desired shooting method and the DJI Neo does the rest.

It will take off from the palm of your hand.

But it can also be paired with the DJI Fly app and DJI remote controls if you want increased flight and camera control.

Also onboard is a wi-fi connection so you can easily control DJI Neo with your smartphone on the DJI Fly app interface.

Under the hood is 22GB of internal storage which is enough to save up to 40 minutes of 4K video or 55 minutes of Full HD.

And users can transfer footage and images directly to their smartphone thanks to its on board wi-fi connection.

Users can also record audio by connecting the drone to their smartphone and using the internal microphone so it’s ideal for those up close selfie videos.

And if you want additional quality, the DJI Mic 2 can be used via a Bluetooth connection.

The Neo also has DJI’s Quickshots at your fingertips including:

– Dronie: The drone flies backward and ascends, with the camera locked on the subject, and records a video.

– Circle: The drone circles around the subject.

– Rocket: The drone ascends with the camera pointing downward.

– Spotlight: The drone rotates while keeping the object of interest within the frame

– Helix: The drone ascends and spirals around the subject.

– Boomerang: The drone flies around the subject in an oval path, ascending as it flies away from its starting point and descending as it flies back. The aircraft’s starting point forms one end of the oval’s long axis, while the other end is at the subject’s opposite side from the starting point.

The DJI Neo is priced at $299 and the DJI Neo Fly More Combo is available for $539.

Stay tuned to Tech Guide for a complete review of the DJI Neo in the coming weeks.
