Keeping all your devices charged on the go for MacBook, iPhone and iPad users can be a challenge. The new MacMate is a handy solution that can turn your MacBook charger into a wireless charging station.
The device is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and includes three USB-C ports on the side.
You simply connect your MacBook charger with the USB-C to USB-C cable that comes with MacMate to the middle port marked INPUT.
Now the MacMate has power.
To power your MacBook, use the cable that came with the laptop and connect it to the left USB-C port marked PC 60W – this refers to the 60W output required to charge a laptop.
Now what about your iPhone?
On top of the MacMate is a wireless MagSafe compatible charger so you can rest the iPhone on top and charge wirelessly at 10W.
You can also use MacMate to wirelessly charge your AirPods Pro earphones and case as well.
If you have an iPad or another iPhone, you can use the USB-C to USB-C or USB-C to Lightning cable that came with those products and plug them into the right USB-C port that offers 20W output.
And you can have everything connected at the same time and charging at the same time.
It’s ideal for travellers or anyone else who need to charge on the move with the minimal number of chargers and cables.
I took it with me on a recent holiday to Hawaii and was able keep my MacBook, iPhone and iPad charged every day.
