Apple has announced a voluntary recall of its older 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops sold between September 2015 and February 2017 because the battery may overheat and pose a safety risk.
Customers affected by this recall are being urged by Apple in the interests of safety to stop using the device immediately.
Users can identify the units in question by entering their serial number at the Apple support page.
Those affected will be able to have their battery replaced free of charge.
To find the serial number, customers need to click on the Apple menu in the top left-hand corner and select About This Mac.
If you have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) into your serial number on the program page to check if it is eligible for the battery replacement.
If the battery does need replacing customers can take the device to an Apple authorised service provider or make an appointment at an Apple retail store.
The MacBook Pro will be checked prior to any service to verify that it is eligible for the program.
If eligible, the service may take up to two weeks.
