DaVinci Resolve brings powerful film editing tools to the iPad for the first time
Video editing on the iPad has jumped to the next level with the release of the DaVinci Resolve app from Australian company Blackmagic Design.
Compatible with iPads as far back as iPad 8th Gen, iPad Air 4th Gen and iPad Pro 3rd Gen, DaVinci Resolve is a powerful solution that combines editing with colour correction within the same software tool.
Naturally the app has been optimized to work at its peak with the iPad Pro M1 and M2 editions, but the main features will still work with earlier iPads with some limited functionality.
The app contains the same tools and features used by Hollywood professionals for some of the biggest movies ever produced.
The main cut page has been optimised to create a clutter free interface so you can easily browse your media and edit videos from multiple cameras in the same project while keeping everything in sync.
DaVinci Resolve also contains Hollywood’s most advanced colour corrector that’s already used to colour and finish some of the best-known TV shows and movies.
The app also provides a platform for cloud-based collaboration which makes it even easier for multiple people to work on the same project.
DaVinci Resolve for iPad also utilises AI processing with the app’s built-in neural engine to enable things like locating and track people in your shots, stylise the background, reframing, and creating square and vertical versions to share on social media.
“DaVinci Resolve for iPad is truly a revolution for post production, ” said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO.
“Customers will have the power of Hollywood post production tools for editing and colour correction literally in their hands, creating a whole new generation of creative editors and colourists.
“Compatibility with DaVinci Resolve 18 and Blackmagic Cloud, mean that customers can collaborate on the same timeline with other editors or colourists as well as audio engineers and VFX artists from literally anywhere in the world.
“I think it will be exciting to try out the new iPad version and I can’t wait to see how our customers use it, their creativity will be mind blowing.”
