Optus has released the findings of an independent review of the September 18 Triple Zero outage which includes 21 recommendations including a change to the company’s siloed way of working. The report was also clear in pointing out poor execution and a focus on getting things done rather than getting things right in times of crisis. Apple iPhone 12 users have been asked to urgently run the latest software update to fix an issue that may prevent the device connecting to Triple Zero. Apple issued the iOS 26.2 update at the weekend to avoid iPhone 12 from encountering the same issue that affected several Samsung phones which also needed urgent patching so they could reach Triple Zero in the event their own network was not available and required to “camp on” to another network to reach emergency services. Millions of Australian teenagers aged under 16 have been kicked off social media platforms after the government ban came into effect today. And the whole world is watching.
