DJI, already a player in drones and creative camera technology, has introduced the new Osmo Mobile 8P, which can help users produce amazing video content with their smartphone.
The new gimbal has new framing and tracking features to improve your smartphone shots.
The Osmo Mobile 8P now has a detachable Osmo Frame Tap remote, which allows creators to remotely control shots like selfies and achieve precise framing.
Also improved is ActiveTrack 8.0, which offers improved subject tracking to keep whatever you’re shooting in the centre of the frame, even in complex environments and crowds.
The new Multifunctional Module 2 pairs with the new Osmo Mobile 8P to enable it to track more than people and pets.
You can now keep pace with other objects like cars and landmarks and keep them centred in the frame.
The Osmo Mobile 8P has a three-axis gimbal which utilises DJI’s stabilisation technology that’s been perfected over the years on its other products including previous gimbals and drones.
It weighs 386g and has a built-in tripod along with a 215mm extension rod to improve your shots.
The on-board battery provides up to 10 hours of use and the built-in USB-C port allows the gimbal to even charge your phone, making it perfect for extended shoots, live streaming and outdoor filming.
The gimbal has a 360-degree Infinite Spin mode, which makes capturing panoramic shots smoother and easier than ever, thanks to its unlimited horizon rotation.
When combined with the DJI MIMO app, users can access other modes and visual effects.
These include:
– DynamicZoom delivers blockbuster-style stretching and compressing visual effects via the Move In and Move Out modes.
– Slow Shutter captures ethereal light trails where stillness meets motion, excelling in night scenes and low-light conditions.
– Action Shot maintains fluid framing for fast-paced subjects, responding quickly to keep athletes or dancers centred.
– Widescreen mode records directly in classic 2.35:1 format, achieving a polished professional film texture without post-production cropping
