Sonos is going back to its roots with the release of the new Sonos Play and Sonos Era 100 SL speakers which offer high quality room-filling sound.
Sonos is returning to the system that enabled multi-room audio and made it a household name years ago.
This comes nearly two years after the disastrous release of the upgraded Sonos app which had been completely redesigned for iOS and Android.
Customers complained about bugs and poorer speaker performance and the brand took a hit.
Then CEO Patrick Spence even stepped down as a result.

Sonos has regrouped and appointed a new CEO – Tom Conrad – and have now released its first new speakers in two years – the Sonos Play and the Sonos Era 100 SL.
“Much of consumer tech promises innovation, yet too often delivers isolation — new devices replacing old ones instead of building on what already works,” said Tom Conrad, Chief Executive Officer of Sonos.
“We believe a great sound experience shouldn’t reset every time you add something new.
“It should get better. Sonos Play and Era 100 SL are a clear expression of what Sonos does best — creating products that feel simple on the surface but are deeply powerful because of the system behind them.”

SONOS PLAY – $499
The Sonos Play has a wireless charging base and can connect over wi-fi to group rooms and or create stereo pairs.
For the first time users can group multiple speakers from a Bluetooth connection.
Once you connect Sonos Play to your phone you can sync up to three additional Sonos Play or Move 2 speakers.
And automatic Trueplay dynamically tunes the sound to your surroundings.
The speaker is designed to be portable and something you can carry with you everyday thanks to a removeable utility loop so you can listen on the move.
There is 24 hours of battery life onboard and the speaker has a rugged IP67 waterproof design along with a built-in powerbank to charge your mobile devices.

SONOS ERA 100 SL – $289
The Sonos Era SL offers a simpler and more accessible way for customers to enter the ecosystem and enjoy the Sonos experience.
It has a mic-free design and streamlined features and can be easily added to a Sonos system, paired with other speakers and added to build out a home theatre experience.
From the upgraded Sonos app, users will be able to enjoy their music and podcasts in any room in their home as well as access content from more than 100 streaming services to listen over wi-fi or Bluetooth.
Sonos Play and Sonos Era 100 SL are available to preorder now and will go on sale on March 31.
