Sonos has launched Sonos Radio, a new free ad-supported streaming radio service which is available for free for more than 10 million customers to access on their multiroom speaker systems.
Sonos users can access more than 60,000 stations through the service from multiple streaming partners.
There is also new original programming which is handpicked by DJs, artists and a team of curators.
These stations will allow listeners to sample diverse music selections across favourite genres inspired by current and classic selections.
“Sonos has always made it easy for customers to discover the riches of streaming music services by building premium products that sound great and by giving customers the freedom to use the services of their choice,” said Patrick Spence, Sonos CEO.
“Sonos Radio brings together streaming radio services and a select set of curated radio stations in a simple, elegant way.
“This is just a beginning as we work to deliver services that provide our customers a better experience and provide our music streaming service partners an opportunity to highlight their best content.”
Sonos Radio allows listeners to explore stations from around the world through the updated Sonos app so they can listen to music, sport and news as well as content from locations stations based on your postcode.
More stations will become available with the integration of UK radio service Global and Radio.com from the US.
The new offering will also include Sonos Sound System – a curated show hosted by the Sonos team.
It will give listeners a stream of new and well-known music along with behind-the-scenes stories and also feature guest artists.
Artist-hosted radio hours will drop every Wednesday.
The ad-free artists curated stations will offer playlists that inspired and influenced them.
Sonos Radio will appear in the Sonos app once it is updated so users can start listening today.
Sonos Radio will be available in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and Australia to begin with before additional countries are added.
