Home security brand Uniden has partnered with Sydney-based EV charging platform ivygo to offer a safer and smarter community charging experience.
ivygo is like AirBNB for your home charger with the platform allowing owners to share their private chargers with other EV drivers.
In the partnership, Uniden will offer its award-winning security cameras and dash cams with ivygo’s peer-to-peer charging network and allow hosts to protect their chargers and allow drivers to feel more secure on the road and while they are charging.
ivygo gives EV drivers the opportunity to charge their vehicles at a nearby home or business wherever a private charger is available instead of relying solely on public charging infrastructure.
“At Uniden, we’re always looking for new ways to apply our security expertise to emerging technologies,” said Brad Hales, Head of Marketing at Uniden Oceania. “Partnering with ivygo allows us to support the EV community and provide solutions that help build a safer, more connected charging network across Australia.”
ivygo’s Founder, Julie Perrissel said, “Our mission at ivygo is to make EV charging simple, accessible, and empowering for both drivers and hosts.
“Working with Uniden adds an extra layer of confidence for our users, helping hosts feel secure sharing their chargers and giving drivers peace of mind while on the go.
“Together, we’re building a community-powered network that’s not only greener but smarter, too.”
From May 2025, ivygo users will be offered exclusive pricing on Uniden’s security cameras and dash cams.
This will allow user to monitor their charger in real time via Uniden’s impressive range of security cameras while EV drivers can enjoy the peace of mind knowing the Uniden dash cams.
The partnership with Uniden’s will showcase ivygo’s peer-to-peer model that provides the contactless charging experienced while building trust between neighbours, communities and other EV drivers.
Last year in Australia more than 114,000 new EVs were sold which now represents one in 10 car sales.
With the increasing take up of electric vehicles, it will increase the demand for flexible safe and charging solutions in the community.
Uniden’s partnership with ivygo will address two pain points for new adopters – the ready availability of charges and staying safe on the road and while charging.
