Kindle has revealed its top reads for 2025 with Australians embracing e-reading and turning more than 1.6 billion pages a month.
And our favourite genre? Romance still leads the way followed closely by fantasy and suspense.
Kindle’s Year in Reading report showed Australian Kindle customers consumed an average of more than 1.6 billion pages per month in 2025.
Onyx Storm was the most popular fiction title in Australia among Kindle readers.
Other notable mentions include The Housemaid and The Last Bookshop which also topped bestseller charts.
But for all the reading we did we weren’t limited to a single book – there were entire series that captured our imagination.
Zodiac Academy and Chestnut Springs were the most binged book series of the year in Australia.
January was still the most popular reading month in with readers starting off the year by diving into new novels and stories.
And, according to the report, most people prefer to read in the morning as part of their Kindle routine.
The Housemaid author Freida McFadden was the most read Kindle author of the year with readers enjoying her stories and coming back for more.
Often readers are inspired by TV series.
After The summer I Turned Pretty premiered, downloads of the book spiked by 372 per cent in 2025 which shows how adaptations can drive viewers back to discover or rediscover the original stories that inspired them.
And it went beyond just reading. Kindle users in Australia also engaged with their books, creating more than 644 million highlights in 2025.
“I am yours and you are mine, and there’s no law or rule in this world or the next that will change that” in Rebecca Yarros’ Onyx Storm was the most highlighted phrase of the year on Kindles.
