Canon has opened up your photography options with the release of its new EOS R which blends optical, mechanical and electronic design into an all-new system.
It’s been 30 years since Canon introduced EOS and this new EOS R takes it in an exciting new direction.
The EOS R is a mirrorless full frame camera which offers typical Canon ergonomics with a comfortable handgrip and intuitive layout which will suit professionals and amateurs alike.
It has a weather sealed rugged magnesium alloy body which means it’s designed to be used on the go.
It also has an always on Bluetooth connection so the EOS R can be constantly paired with your smartphone to record GPS data with the images.
And when combined with the Canon Camera Connect app, users can also experience flexible shooting options and easily access their images to share on social media.
EOS R can also capture stunning 4K video with up to 12 stops of dynamic range at ISO 400 and includes full audio control.
Also on board is a Digital Lens Optimiser that corrects things like lens aberrations and draws on the power of RF lenses to send correction data to the camera body to minimise the impact on continuous shooting speed.
It also has Touch and Drag AF which allows users to enable intuitive selection of 5,655 available AF point positions.
It is also Canon’s first camera to enable lowlight auto focusing.
The EOS R can handle lowlight shooting thanks to its Electronic Viewfinder to allow photographers to see subjects in accurate colour even in almost total darkness.
The EOS R will launch with four lenses which offer quality, speed and functionality – the RF 28-70mm f/2L USM; RF 50mm f/1.2L USM; RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM; and RF 35mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM – which are made possible by the RF mount.
Three new EF-EFR lens mount adapters means more than 70 EF and EF-S lenses can be used with the new EOS R system.
The EOS R camera body and lenses will be available from October 9.
