Tech21 has finally launched its range of mobile and tablet protection cases in Australia that use an innovative impact protection material called D30.
D30 and another material used in screen protection – a BASF polymer – is actually used in bullet-proof glass so you know it’s going to offer superior protection for your device.
There are Tech21 cases for the iPhone 4, iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Sony Xperia Z and the HTC One with prices starting at $29.95.
There are snap-on cases, shell cases, cases with a screen protection cover and band cases that include a plastic rear protection panel design to fit the device precisely.
The D30 material is a soft orange putty-like substance that is soft and bendable like dough.
But despite its soft appearance and feel, D30 molecules lock together to absorb and disperse the force of an impact.
To demonstrate the strength of the material and its shock absorbing qualities a ball of D30 was wrapped around the tip of my finger and then banged hard with a hammer.
And while I felt the pressure of the blow I felt no pain because the energy had been dissipated by the D30.
With that kind of material inside each Tech21 case it offers added protection and peace of mind for users whose device occasionally slips out of their hands.
In some of the Tech21 cases the D30 protective material can actually be seen inside in-laid in the corners and other areas likely to take the brunt of an impact.
Tech21 also offers screen protection with the BASF polymer that can reduce force by up to 80 per cent.
The Impact Shield has three layers which can also disperse and absorb impact and mean the difference between a shattered display and an intact display.
This same BASF polymer is used in bullet-proof glass so nothing is going to go through it.
The Tech21 cases are available now from Apple, Vodafone and Harvey Norman stores.
