Pre-orders have opened for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus after the telcos revealed their plans at the weekend. Tech Guide has put together every plan to make it easier for you to compare the best value and choose the one that’s right for you.
The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are more expensive than last year’s models and that is reflected in the pricing.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are still available but now only in 16GB and 64GB capacities.
If you want a 128GB iPhone you have to go for the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus.
The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are also available in an all-new Rose Gold colour as well.
Here’s what we’ve observed from each of the carriers.
TELSTRA
Telstra’s new iPhone plans have either a little data or a lot and jump from 2.5GB up to 7GB with no middle ground like other telcos are providing.
Pricewise Telstra is also on the higher side but they do offer add-ons like free Apple Music subscriptions as well as the ability to upgrade to a new phone each year for $149.
Unlimited calls and texts kick in with the 7GB plans.
OPTUS
Optus has brought in their iPhone 6S plans not far off where they were a year ago.
The plans that offer 3GB a month are very competitive but If you’re hungrier for more data – 12GB and above – you need to spend more than $100 a month.
Optus also has unlimited talk and text on every plan.
Other incentives include free Netflix subscriptions.
VODAFONE
Vodafone has a good spread of data offerings and competitive pricing especially in what now in the 8GB data limit which is now seen as the middle ground for iPhone plans.
Vodafone is actually the only telco with an 8GB a month offering which is a nice sweet spot for those who want a bit of data behind them per month.
Unlimited talk and text are included with all plans.
Vodafone also still offer international roaming with their plans in 47 countries so you can use all of the features of your plan when you’re travelling for $5 a day.
VIRGIN MOBILE
Virgin Mobile has more plans than any other telco and also some of the cheapest plans you can get. But that’s because it is not offering as much data.
Virgin is obviously targeting younger users and those on a budget.
The most data you can get on a Virgin Mobile plan is 6GB.
Virgin’s unlimited calls and text are included with plans of 2GB and higher.
