The highly anticipated LG Optimus G Android smartphone has finally arrived in Australia and goes on sale on the Telstra 4G network from today.
The device will be available for $0 on a $60 a month plan with the first 5000 customers receiving a bonus Miracast wireless dongle, valued at $99, to stream content to your TV.
LG’s Optimus G has a 4.7-inch 1280 x 768 high definition resoliution high definition screen with strong Gorilla Glass 2 front and back along with laser cut sides to give it a precision design.
Also on board is a quad-core Qualcomm SnapDragon S4 Pro 1.5Ghz processor, a 13-megapixel camera and the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system.
LG is calling the release of the Optimus G the dawn of a new era for the company after it decided to focus on pre-paid devices in 2012. As a result LG moved from No 6 to No 2 in the pre-paid market.
In 2013, the Optimus G will tick all of the boxes to match the evolving trends of the smartphone – increasing availability of devices on contract, better cameras, bigger screens and 4G.
The hero features of the Optimus G include QSlide Function, Dual Screen, Dual Play, Time Catch Shot and QuickMemo.
QSLIDE FUNCTION
Users can run up to three functions on the Optimus G simultaneously including the browser, video player, calendar, calculator and memo and the QSlide can adjust the transparency of each app.
DUAL SCREEN DUAL PLAY
Another demonstration of the Optimus G’s processing power is Dual Screen Dual Play which allows users to share a video on their TV while browsing the web or checking messages on the device.
TIME CATCH SHOT
The LG Optimus G’s 13-megapixel camera can help you not miss the shot by constantly keeping a two second buffer of images through the camera as soon as you open the app. Then when you hit the shutter button you can go back in time two seconds to make sure you’ve captured the shot.
QUICKMEMO
How many times have you been on a call on your mobile and needed to write a number down? LG’s new QuickMemo function means you can jot down notes or numbers directly on the screen with your finger which can be saved and even shared with your friends. This feature also means you can take screen captures and write on them before sharing.
The LG Optimus G is available from today through Telstra on a plans starting at $60 a month with $0 upfront.
The first 5000 customers will also receive a free MiraCast wi-fi dongle, valued at $99, to stream content and mirror the Optimus G’s screen on your TV.
