Hoyts has transformed the movie-going experience with the launch of its brand new cinema technology called Apex which uses a super-sized LED screen.
The new technology will be unveiled at Melbourne Central, one of the flagship cinemas in Victoria and will deliver a whole new way to experience movies and set a new standard for premium viewing.
The screen is more than 21 metres wide with more than 17 million pixels and combines that large scale with precise control of its acoustically transparent LED modules so sound can pass through the screen and line up with the action on the screen.
“HOYTS APEX represents a defining moment for HOYTS and for cinema more broadly, setting a new benchmark for what the big screen experience can be,” says Hoyts Group CEO and President Damien Keogh.
“What sets APEX apart is its combination of a curved LED screen of spectacular scale, cutting-edge LED technology delivering true pixel perfection and Dolby Atmos surround sound, bringing every moment to life with remarkable clarity and depth.
“We’re proud to introduce this new format at Melbourne Central, reinforcing its position as the leading cinema destination in Victoria.”
Hoyts Apex is a step away from traditional projection and uses direct view LED technology, which provides significantly higher brightness, deeper blacks and remarkable contrast.
The result is an even more vivid and lifelike images in every scene.
Hoyts Apex was created by GDC Technology and is the most advanced big screen experience available today.
“The LED system behind HOYTS APEX offers 30 times better picture contrast and millions more pixels than traditional cinema projection, resulting in remarkable clarity and detail,” says Chairman and CEO of GDC Technology Dr Man Nang Chong.
“The screen itself is acoustically transparent allowing sound to pass seamlessly through the movie, so audio aligns precisely with what is on screen creating a level of immersion and precision unlike anything Australian cinemagoers have experienced before.”
With Hoyts Apex, Hoyts is demonstrating its drive to push for even higher cinema quality to deliver an experience that can’t be replicated anywhere else.
We can expect to see Hoyts Apex in other Hoyts cinemas around Australia in the near future.
