Telstra has released its new Smart Modem 4 which now includes a 5G mobile backup for the first time along with Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and support for AI powered Smart Fix to detect and resolve issues.
When Telstra customers combine the Smart Modem 4 with their internet plans, if there is an issue with their connection it will kick in so customers can stay connected via Telstra’s 5G network.
The 5G backup is capped at 25Mbps down and 5Mbps up which is enough to continue working and streaming and browsing until the faster NBN connection is restored.
And if you’re a business, that’s enough speed to keep things running and still bring revenue through the door.
The other benefit of the new Smart Modem 4 is Wi-Fi 7 connectivity which means faster connections with the latest compatible products like smartphones and laptops.
The new modem is also compatible with EasyMesh for Telstra’s Smart Wi-Fi boosters to ensure you have a stable and consistent connection across your entire home.
Apart from increased speeds at home and the security of a 5G backup, the Telstra Smart Modem 4 also has a range of smart diagnostic tools to get you back online.
One of these is SmartFix which proactively looks at your internet performance and uses AI to resolve faults in the background before they become an issue.
The idea here is for problems to be identified and fixed before you even notice them.
The Telstra Smart Modem 4 is available to order now and will be available to customers who sign up for eligible fixed home or business internet plans.
Customers with FTTP (Fibre To The Premises) or HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial) connections on eligible plans will be able to get the Smart Modem 4 to allow them to experience the new higher NBN speed tiers when they launch in mid-September.
If you’re already a Telstra fixed home or business internet customer you can purchase the Telstra Smart Modem 4 for $240 upfront or on a repayment plan for up to 24 months.
