Lenovo wants to empower customers with new laptops, smart devices and AR

The Lenovo mission of offering “smarter technology for all”  took a huge step closer today after the company revealed its range of new products at its annual Tech Life event on the eve of the IFA tech trade show in Berlin.

Front and centre were a new range of Yoga consumer laptops, smart home devices with built-in Google Assistant and an AR headset.

The premium Yoga laptop PCs introduced in Berlin continue the brand’s tradition of providing solid computer power, sleek design and an immersive entertainment experience.

They also bring to the table a range of new features including Super Resolution and Q Control and Lock Screen Support.

The Lenovo Yoga C640

There are four new products in the Yoga range –  the S740 (available in September in 14-inch and 15-inch), the C940 (available in October in 14-inch and 15-inch),  the C740 (available in September in 14-inch and 15-inch) and the C640 (Available in October in 13-inch).

Super Resolution – which can upscale video to full high-definition 1080p – and Q Control, a mode that uses artificial intelligence to dynamically boost battery life depending on the task at hand,  will both be included in the Yoga C940 and Yoga S 740.

The Lenovo Yoga C940

Included across all the Yoga products is also Lock Screen Support which will allow users to speak to Alexa like a smart speaker when the laptop lid is open or closed with responses appearing at the bottom of the screen.

The 14-inch Lenovo Yoga C940 is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop with an all metal chassis and on-board features including the TrueBlock Privacy shutter to block  the camera, biometric unlock and a stylus that can be stored and charge inside the laptop.

Yoga Smart Tab

Under the hood is the 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor to enable the new features as well as supporting optional 4K HDR display, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

The range will also include the latest wireless standard –  Wi-Fi 6.

The 14-inch Lenovo Yoga S740 weighs just 1.4kg and is just 18.1mm thick and comes with the optional 4K HDR display with Dolby Vision.

The Lenovo Yoga C740 (available in 14-inch and 15-inch)  has a lightweight design,  Alexa and a battery that runs for up to 15 hours.

The 13-inch Lenovo Yoga C640 is a 2-in-1 that will integrate 4G LTE so will always be connected even if you can’t find a wi-fi network.

The laptop will also offer up to 20 hours of battery life.

Lenovo’s smart home innovation has been enhanced by two new Yoga Smart Tabs and a Smart display.

The Yoga Smart Tab and the Lenovo Smart Tab M8 are not only versatile tablets but they can also act like a smart home hub as well with Google Assistant Ambient Mode.

The Yoga Smart Tab re-introduces the kick stand for easier viewing and the rounded edge houses  JBL stereo speakers, a larger battery and also provides a solid grip when viewing content and holding the device with one hand.

It will start at $499 and will go on sale in October.

Yoga Smart Tab M8 and charging stand

The Lenovo Smart Tab M8 is a shareable tablet for the family that can be docked in the smart charging stand.

This also provides far field voice recognition like a smart speaker so you can be heard from across the room. Pricing and availability is yet to be announced.

The Lenovo Smart Display 7, which will start at $179 and become available in November, is a smart speaker with a 7-inch display which makes it quite a versatile assistant.

The Lenovo Mirage AR headset and controllers

On the audio side the quality is even higher thanks to a larger resonance chamber.

The Lenovo Mirage AR will allow users to step into the Marvel universe with the new Marvel Dimension of Heroes game.

The headset is powered through the smartphone app and allows players, with the addition of dual universal controllers, to take on the infamous Super Villains standing in your way.

The Lenovo Mirage is also backwards compatible with the Jedi Challenges game.

And owners of the Jedi Challenges AR Kit can also purchase the dual universal controllers to play the new Marvel Dimensions of Heroes game.
