If you’re after a pair of headphones to wear while you’re exercising it has to be wireless and built to handle your workout – just like the new Plantronics BackBeat Fit headphones.
The BackBeat Fit headphones connect to your mobile device via Bluetooth and have an over the ear design with each earpiece connected by a single band.
It is made of a plastic material that is covered with a P2i nano coating during the manufacturing process.
This gives it invisible liquid repellent properties so it can easily handle the rain and the sweat.
And without a cable between the headphones and your device, the Plantronics BackBeat Fit can easily keep pace with your workout without tying you in knots and getting you tangled up in a cord.
Each earpiece has a loop that goes over the ear to position the tip directly into your ear canal.
Once fitted around your neck and over each ear, the BackBeat Fit headphones are really lightweight and comfortable.
Each earpiece loop is flexible so it can fit easily on just about any ear and stays in place no matter how physical your training gets.
There are controls on each earpiece. On the left is the play/pause button while the right earpiece has the button to answer your calls.
The built-in microphone is also clear so you can easily hear your calls even in the middle of a workout.
On the audio side, the Plantronics BeatBeat Fit headphones have an impressive sound through its 13mm dynamic drivers.
Music was crisp with plenty of detail and adequate bass.
Our only issue is that we found with the BackBeat Fit headphones was, even at the highest volume, wasn’t as loud as we would have liked.
One thing Plantronics was careful about was the eartip design so it wouldn’t completely block outside noise.
This is important especially for people who are running or walking and need to hear the traffic and what’s happening around them.
There is even a reflective finish on the back of the headphones to make you even easier to spot in the dark.
Onboard is a rechargeable battery that will run for up to eight hours on a single charge.
When paired with an iPhone or iPad you can see the battery meter at the top of the screen.
There’s also a DeepSleep mode that can put the earbuds into hibernation when not paired to a phone to keep the battery charge for up to six months.
Also included with the BackBeat Fit headphones is an armband to carry your smartphone.
And when you’re done with your training – simply turn the armband inside out and it becomes a storage case for the headphones.
The Plantronics BackBeat Fit headphones are priced at $159.95 and available now from Rebel Sport and from July 1 will be available from JB Hi-Fi, Dick Smith, Officeworks, Tech2Go and selected Optus, Telstra and Vodafone stores.
