Philips Fidelio NC1 noise cancelling headphone review – great sound and value

Philips has a rich history when it comes to producing high quality audio products and it has taken that heritage to produce the impressive Fidelio NC1 noise cancelling headphones.

The Philips Fidelio NC1 is designed for the discerning listener who has an ear for great audio and a need to shut out the outside world while they’re commuting or travelling.

On the design side the Fidelio NC1 is made of fine materials right down to the deluxe soft leather cushions that covers each of the ear cups.

There is soft-feel leather on top and the same soft leather covered cushions found on the ear cups on the headband as well to ensure a comfortable fit for hours.

The arms are also adjustable which means the headphones can fit all users.

The lightweight headphones have 40mm neodymium drivers that do all the heavy lifting when it comes to producing a crisp wide dynamic range.

And what you get is detailed sound at the high and mid-levels along with excellent bass that’s not laid on to heavily like other brands.

On the noise cancelling side, the Philips Fidelio NC1 also ticks the box and it is achieved through the four microphones inside and outside of the ear cup that capture outside noise and eliminate it with advanced processing.

The level of noise cancellation is impressive but it is still slightly behind what we’ve heard with other brands but the NC1 headphones still do a great job to block out ambient noise.

The NC1 headphones actually have a standalone acoustic chamber so the sound isolation means all you’re left to hear is every note of your music.

Speaking of noise, that’s what someone sitting on the bus next to you might hear as there is slight sound leakage when played at higher volumes. But this is far from being a deal breaker.

And when the Philips Fidelio NC1 headphones are connected to your smartphone you can still easily make and receive calls.

An in-line remote control can be used to navigate your music and to answer those phone calls.

When it’s all over the headphone’s ear cups fold flat and hinge in towards the headband to fold down to an even more compact size.

The headphones are stored inside of the included hard case that’s small enough to take with you on your travels.

The Philips Fidelio NC1 noise cancelling headphones are priced at $349 and are available now from Dick Smith, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and JR Duty Free.

The Philips Fidelio NC1 easily hold their own against other brands in the crowded noise cancellation headphone market.

These headphones stand out because of the sleek design, excellent sound quality and value price.
