Now Google Home is as big a footy fan as you are

Australians love their sport and now they will love Google Home even more because you can now find information about your favourite NRL, AFL or rugby team just by asking for it.

From today, Australian sports fans can now check live scores, find out match results, check upcoming fixtures and see where their team is positioned on the ladder using the Google Assistant.

You can now get all the key details of the upcoming matches in Google Search and find all the details in a neat panel at the top of the results page.

Or you can just ask.

For example, you can say, “OK Google, when are the South Sydney Rabbitohs playing next?”

You can also ask for updates during the game through your Google Home device.

To get the scoop on all of your favourite team news you can simply ask, “OK Google, play the Sydney Swans news”.

AFL news briefings are updated daily during the off-season and twice a day during the regular season.

Google Assistant is pretty clever and will understand your preferred team’s nicknames and the sports that you are interested in.

If you really want to have some fun, you could ask Google to tell you an NRL or AFL joke or ask “OK Google, who’s going to win the premiership”.

For added laughs you can ask Google Home to talk like a footballer and what you’ll hear is a classic post-match commentary full of all the football clichés we know and love.
