Linksys has launched its Velop home wi-fi mesh system to suit the size of your home and provide full speed across the entire network so all of your devices can enjoy a fast connection.
Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, the Linksys Velop can be installed in different mesh configurations with your choice of up to three nodes to suit your home networking needs.
Each Velop node is a tri-band AC2200 device that can work either as a router, a range extender, access point and bridge to create the mesh network that will offer high speeds even at the very edge of the network.
Usually wi-fi speeds are halved when running from one access point to the next but the Velop system uses the three radios dynamically to determine the signal’s best path from modem and main node to the other nodes.
The nodes connect each other wirelessly and with a cable if available and automatically configure to connect in multiple different mesh topologies.
Dynamic channel scanning can evaluate the unique conditions of the environment to select the band – either 2.4Ghz or one of the two 5Ghz radios
The Velop system is easy to install and the nodes are also stylish enough to be positioned in plain sight while still fitting in with your décor.
Each of the nodes can be configured using the Linksys app in the intuitive set-up process which is completed with Bluetooth so the mobile app can connect to each node.
Customers are also guided by the app to find the right placement for each node to reduce latency, achieve maximum throughput and improve range and signal strength.
When you’re done, the Velop system will have one network name and password.
And after set-up is completed, the Linksys app also works as a wi-fi management tool so you can control guest access, parental controls and device prioritization.
The vertical orientation of the nodes also helps improve wi-fi performance so it can work well in single and double story homes.
The Linksys Velop whole home wi-fi will be available from June 15 at JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman.
It is available as a one pack ($349.95), two-pack ($649.95) and three pack ($799.95) and comes with a three-year warranty and 24/7 customer support.
