Can you sync your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to more than one computer? Yes you can and doing this will allow you to share and manage content stored on multiple computers.

To achieve this users need to make a setting change on iTunes.

By default any device connected to iTunes is set to “Automatically sync songs” and the contents of that particular computer’s iTunes library is automatically synched.

The warning users receive if they try and sync to another computer in Automatic mode

But if you ever try and connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to another computer an alert box appears warning you the device is synced to another computer.

If you try sync any other content the warning explains your device will be erased and then re-synced to the new computer.

To get around this users need to highlight their device in the left margin of iTunes and then click on the Summary tab at the top of the page.

Down in the Options section a selection called Manually manage music and videos should be checked.

Check Manual mode to allow your iPhone, iPad or iPod to be connect with multiple computers

Click OK in the dialogue box that opens and then hit Apply. It will then take a few seconds for the change from automatic mode to manual mode to be completed.

Now when you connect to a different computer your content stays on your device but you’re able to choose music and playlists to sync to your device.
