The Sony ULT Field 5 portable speaker is a beast that can deliver thumping yet quality sound to start the party anywhere you go.
Sony’s audio credentials are well known and it has brought that expertise to its new ULT Field 5 portable Bluetooth speaker so you can take high quality anywhere.
The Sony ULT Field 5 (SRS-ULT50) is the largest model in this portable speaker range is 32cm long with a weight of 3.3kg.
But don’t worry – it comes with a shoulder strap so it’s easy to take it with you.
Our only gripe with the speaker it that’s a little heavy but, hey, that’s the cost of doing business when it comes to quality speakers.
This ULT Power Series provides dynamic sound 360-degree anywhere with outstanding clarity and a generous helping of bass that is sure to please users.
ULT Power Sound is designed to not just make you hear the music – but feel the music as well.
There’s even a ULT button to go to the next level with boosted audio and even deeper bass that adds the perfect polish to the right music.
Under the hood are three speakers – two 46mm tweeters and a 79mm x 107mm woofer.
The X-Balanced speaker unit produces punchy yet clear sound even at high volumes with no distortion.
That all adds up to a solid audio output that will put a smile on your face and make you tap your feet when you hear your favourite songs.
That’s what we like about Sony audio (we are already huge fans of the Sony WH-1000XM6 ANC headphones) and how it can not only provide superb quality but create an emotional connection to the music as well.
But on top of the sound are the visuals – the speaker also puts on a light show that throbs to the music and changes colour and intensity.
Now being a portable speaker the battery has to be up to it – and it certainly is. On a full charge the Sony ULT Field 5 can run for up to 25 hours.
In fact, with the Sony Sound Connect companion app you’re able to check the battery level at a glance.
There’s even a battery care function so you don’t have to worry about overcharging the speaker.
That large battery can also be used to charge your other mobile devices via the USB-C port.
And naturally you’ll want to take this speaker anywhere and you can thanks to the IP66 and IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating so you can feel at home at the beach (it’s saltwater resistant), by the pool and on a camping trip.
And you can make the party even bigger by adding a second speaker in a stereo pair.
In fact with Party Connect you can link up to 100 compatible speakers. Now that’s a party.
The Sony ULT Field 5 has a multipoint connection so you can be connected to two Bluetooth devices at once so it can automatically switch when a call is received on either device and resume as soon as you end your call.
The Sony ULT Field 5 is available now in black or off white and is priced at $449.
VERDICT
The Sony ULT Field 5 portable speaker is a beast that can deliver thumping yet quality sound to start the party anywhere you go.
