Take the lead with Samsung’s latest ultra-fast gaming monitors

Australian gamers are very particular when it comes to their equipment because it could mean the difference between winning or losing. Samsung has listened and delivered two new state-of-art curved monitors – including the world’s first 240Hz version.

The 49-inch CRG9 and 27-inch CRG5 are both powered by Samsung’s QLED display technology – the same used in the company’s market-leading TVs.

“Samsung has designed the new monitors offer an awesome experience that’s immersive and can give gamers an edge over their competition – whatever their game is,” said Phil Gaut, Director of Display and Memory Solutions, Samsung Electronics Australia.

“Our curved monitors are designed to create a field of view that displays content right up to the edges, so gamers can take in all the action.

“With the introduction of two new curved monitors, Australian gamers now have more options when it comes to finding the monitor best suited to their style of play.”

SAMSUNG 49-INCH CRG9 CURVED GAMING MONITOR – $2599

With a resolution of 5120 x 1440, the stunning 49-inch Samsung curved gaming monitor offers an amazing super wide field of view with a 32:9 aspect ratio. There’s plenty of screen real estate to play with.

In fact, the screen space is the equivalent of two 27-inch QHD monitors placed side by side.

And with that sort of resolution it offers incredible detail.

Pair that detail with the super-wide viewing angle and you’ve got a winning combination.

The monitor can swivel and tilt and is also height adjustable to provide the flexibility and viewing comfort you need.

Also onboard is HDR1000 which supports an impressive peak brightness of 1000 nits with true high dynamic range content that you’ll find on the latest games.

And thanks to the Samsung QLED technology under the hood, the CRG9 can also dramatically increase the monitor’s colour gamut and deliver DCI-P3 95 per cent so colours are pure and bright and realistic.

The screen not only looks good but it also performs well when you’re playing.

What does the heavy lifting is the AMD Radeon FreeSync 2 HDR technology which reduces stutter and screen tearing.

So what you end up with is a smoother game with graphics that remain clear and sharp even at the height of the action.

There’s also LFC (low frame rate compensation) that also helps smooth out the game play.

Another issue with gamers is latency – the fraction of a section between what actually happens in the game and when you see it on screen.

In a competitive match this lag can affect whether you live or die.

The CRG9 gaming monitor has a 120Hz refresh rate and a response time of 4ms which goes a long way to reducing image lag and motion blur – yet another contributing factor for an even smoother game.

Gamers will also find gaming modes which are designed to suit the type of game you’re playing.

These gaming modes also allow users to instantly adjust contrast and colour settings to match the genre of the game you’re playing whether it’s an FPS (first person shooter), RTS (real-time strategy) or RPG (role-playing game).

You can even target your enemies more precisely with the Virtual Aim Point onscreen crosshairs.

With a monitor of this size, the CRG9 can be used to view different sources on a split screen.

You might have a game running on the left and your emails on the right.

And it can also give your eyes a rest as well with the Eye Saver Mode which lowers the level of blue light emissions which can bring on fatigue as well as reduce flickering so you can play longer without straining your eyes.

SAMSUNG 27-INCH CRG5 CURVED GAMING MONITOR – $599

The biggest feature of the Samsung CRG5 curved gaming monitor is its 240Hz refresh rate – the first curved gaming monitor to offer a screen refresh rate that high.

The 240Hz RapidCurve offers the fastest gaming experience on Samsung’s 1500R curved display so gameplay is ultra smooth and even more immersive.

It has full high definition resolution and offers remarkable contrast and image quality so the game you’re playing with look absolutely pristine.

In gaming, speed is what you need and the unprecedented 240Hz refresh rate has got your back by eliminating lag so you can react even quicker in those fast and intense scenes.

Even at mouse level, you’ll notice quick and precise movements to help you overcome your opponents in the blink of an eye.

Now let’s talk about the curve.

The Samsung 27-inch CRG5 curved gaming monitor feels like it’s wrapping around you to immersive you deeply into the game.

Samsung’s curved screen technology brings all parts of the screen – even the edges – at an equal distance to your eyes.

Players can see the whole screen edge to edge without the need to shift your gaze.

But what’s the point of having all of this speed if it doesn’t look amazing?

G-Sync compatibility also comes in to play with the screen’s dynamically adapted refresh rate to eliminate screen tear and stuttering which can yank you out of the realism and immersion of the game.

It has a response time of 4ms.

The Samsung 27-inch CRG5 curved gaming monitor has a three-sides bezel-less design for this who want a dual monitor set-up.

This helps the paired look they are one screen.

The screen rests on a sturdy Y stand that’s completely adjustable for a comfortable view.
