Telstra is investigating an issue preventing customers with older iPhones from connecting to its network, including Triple Zero, after a recent software update.
Customers with iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X (all released in 2017) have experienced issues after installing an update designed to allow them to still connect to Triple Zero.
But the update has now cut off Telstra customers from the network completely – including regular calls and Triple Zero calls.
Apple has paused software updates while the investigation continues.

“We’re currently investigating an issue preventing some older Apple devices from connecting to our network, including calls to 000,” Telstra said in a statement.
“We’re working on this as a priority with Apple and will share updates as we have them.
“We recommend customers using these devices delay updating the software on their device until we confirm the issue is resolved.”
We understand there is no issue with these devices on the Optus and Vodafone networks.
The devices affected are iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X updated that were updated to iOS16.7.13.

Telstra has told customers if “SOS” appears on the affected device they will still be able to call Triple Zero via one of the other networks.
But Telstra says it could take as long as a minute to “camp on” and connect to the alternative network and Triple Zero.
Apple is expected to issue an update within 24 hours.
Telstra has set up a page on its website for updates here.
