Netgear has released the high-speed 802.11ac DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem router for Telstra customers – the world’s first deployment of this type of device.
The Netgear AC1900 Cable Data Gateway (C6300BD) will be offered to Telstra customers as the Telstra Gateway Max.
It can provide wi-fi speeds up to 1900Mbps thanks to the new onboard 802.11ac wireless standard.
And DOCSIS (data over cable service interface specification) 3.0 means data transfer over a hybrid fibre cable connection is faster than ever.
Telstra’s Gateway Max will only be available to customers who can access a Telstra cable connection which is also used to deliver Foxtel PAY TV services.
The device will provide a faster wi-fi connection for laptops, gaming consoles, tablets and smartphones – especially the latest devices with 802.11ac compatibility.
Older products still receive a wireless speed boost because of the new beamforming technology that forms a direct line-of-sight link with devices on the network.
Netgear’s C6300BD has built-in high power amplifiers along with an advanced internal antenna design for even greater wi-fi coverage.
There are also four Gigabit Ethernet ports on the back of the gateway along with a USB 2.0 port for data networking options.
The Telstra Gateway Max includes another Netgear feature called QoS (quality of service) so the cable modem router can prioritise bandwidth for activities like online gaming, streaming of HD videos and file downloads.
The Netgear AC1900 Cable Data Gateway C6300BD is available now for Telstra customers as the Telstra Gateway Max for $216.99 or part of a cable broadband plan.

how do I connect my Telstra gateway max using foxtel cable, but only want wifi for my ipad and iphone
