Braven is known for making big, bold Bluetooth speakers and its latest model – the BRV-X – can take that experience anywhere and also act as a charger for your other mobile devices.
The BRV-X has a muscular build thanks to its shock absorbing construction and IPX7 certified waterproof body.
So not only can the speakers take a little splash and rain, it can also be submerged in a metre of water for up to 30 minutes.
The device is about 23cm long, 9.2cm wide and 7.46cm thick with a weight of 680g.
On the audio side, the Braven BR-X has a big sound that can easily than fill the room with pleasing clarity, satisfying bass and plenty volume without distortion.
These speakers can go anywhere and are designed to handle the great outdoors but are also right at home when you’re indoors as well.
There are even indoor and outdoor modes with the indoor mode sounding crisper and clearer and the outdoor mode sounding a little fuller and throatier.
Smartphones can be paired to the BRV-X directly via Bluetooth or through NFC (near field communication).
Also on board the Braven speakers is TrueWireless technology which means you can link up a second BRV-X speaker to create a studio pair.
Along the top are the music control buttons to control the volume and advance the tracks.
On the front is the black speaker grille while the rear panel has a watertight rubber flap to lifts to reveal a USB port along with a charging port and an audio in 3.5mm jack.
These are well hidden to keep out the water but when it’s time to access these ports there is a bit of effort required to hold back the flap so you can plug in your cable.
It is from here where other devices like smartphones and tablets can be charged through the USB port by the 5200mAh rechargeable battery.
The Braven BRV-X is charged by an AC adaptor – not a USB cable – so you’ll need to remember to carry this around with you to keep it powered up.
It also comes with a travel strap that can pass through the loops on the side of the speakers so it can be easily secured.
They are available in two colour schemes – Blue/Black and Grey/Red/Black.
VERDICT
The Braven BRV-X speakers are rugged and shock proof on the outside but under the hood can deliver an impressive sound and also charge up your other devices as well.
