Epson ET-4750 printer review – includes two-year ink supply for quality printing

If you’re after an all-in-one printer that can print photos and documents as well as scan and copy and not have to worry about ink for two years then you need to take a look at the Epson ET-4750.

It’s even a fax machine, if you’re one of the few remaining people who still likes to fax documents.

Naturally, the printer has wi-fi connectivity so we can it be used by any computer or mobile device on your network without cables.
It’s a surprisingly compact unit (37.5 cm wide, 34.7 cm long and 23.1 cm high) despite it being packed with features so it has a reasonably small footprint.

But the biggest attraction is its cartridge free printing.

The Epson ET-4750 actually comes with two years of ink in the box. There are eight bottles (two of each colour – Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) that comes with the product with each bottle feeling its corresponding tank.

epsonet4750review6

When we set up the printer we used four of the bottles and put the other four away so we could top up the ink whenever we needed.

And filling each of the tanks was easy and mess free thanks to the auto stop ink bottles.

Each bottle has a special nozzle that fits into the top of the tank to allow the ink to be fed directly inside – no mess, no fuss.

And no more running out to buy ink cartridges.

epsonet4750review7

The included ink with the Epson ET-4750 is equivalent of about 30 sets of ink cartridges.

And ink cartridges are cheap – so you do the math.

Yes, the Epson printer costs $699 but it will easily pay itself off with the money you will save not having to continually run out to buy cartridges.

On the design side, Epson has done a great job. It has neatly fitted all the features into a compact unit including an LCD display and control panel that can be tilted for easier viewing.

epsonet4750review3

The 2.4-inch LCD touchscreen is large enough for easy navigation of the menus.

Also inside is a high-capacity paper tray that can hold up to 250 sheets of A4 paper so you’ll have to load paper less often.

There is also a 30-sheet auto document feeder on top of the unit to make copying and printing faster and more convenient.

The wireless connectivity makes the Epson ET-4750 even easier to use.

epsonet4750review2

Anyone on your network can print from their computer or their mobile devices.

Users who want to print off photos from their smart phones or tablets can easily do that via the Epson iPrint app.

The app also allows users to print photos and documents, print from their cloud storage as well as scan and copy documents from their mobile device.

You can also check your ink levels from the mobile app as well.

epsonet4750review5

Also on board is Wi-Fi Direct which means users can connect directly from a device to the printer without having to go through a router or a wireless network.

If you prefer to be connected to the network with a cable there is an Ethernet port.

And users can connect their computer directly to the Epson ET-4750 with a USB cable.

On the printing side, the Epson ET-4750 also delivers.

The unit is powered by PrecisionCore technology which uses a high-density print chip to generate up to 40 million precise dots per second with incredible accuracy.

epsonet4750review4

This means it can produce professional quality prints at high speed.

When we set up the printer it took us through a number of steps to ensure the print quality has been optimised.

The Epson ET-4750 is available now and is priced at $699.

Some may consider that to be pricey but just think about all the money you will save by not buying ink cartridges.

A full set of four cartridges for a regular inkjet printer would cost about $100.

With two years’ worth of ink included with the Epson ET-4750 that’s going to add up to a substantial saving.

VERDICT

If you’re serious about your printing you need to be serious about your printer and the Epson ET-4750 can deliver in all areas.

Nice review Stephen. On point 100%. I’m just waiting for my Hewlett Packard OfficeJet Pro 8710 to finish off the last of the Instant Ink that I mistakenly signed up for. $$$ Gone! I read the price you were quoting and then I caught on your down in the Southern Hemisphere where with Aussie Dollars its divide by 2, carry the 1 and drink a tall Fosters! At least that’s how I do the math in San Diego, California. Our Suggested Retail price is $499.99 USD, but I’ve seen it discounted at least $100.00 USD. Top it off with the savings on ink, I’d call it a no brainer! BTW, I penned an email to the CEO of HP expressing my poor user experience with my third or fourth Hewlett Packard Multi-Function Printer, and how I was not going to cause a financial burden on somebody else by obliging them to purchase more over priced HP supplies, and just box it up and let it collect dust in my attic space. A fitting end don’t you think? Be Well, Take Care, and I’m glad I found your column. Terry
