We take a hands-on look at Samsung’s stunning new Smart Monitor M9

Samsung has released its latest smart monitor – the M9 – a stunning 32-inch OLED monitor that can be used for work, gaming and entertainment.

Tech Guide had a chance to sit down and take a look at the Smart Monitor M9 which combines a high-resolution 4K QD OLED display with a fast refresh rate and response times with Samsung’s brand new Vision AI features.

What we saw was an impressive monitor that offers an amazing viewing experience whether you are hard at work, playing the latest game or kicking back enjoying the latest streaming TV shows and movies.

The M9 is running Samsung’s One UI Tizen OS – the same system you would find on its latest smart TVs – and it’s powered by Samsung’s NQM AI Gen 3 processor.

And like the TVs, it has a seamless integration with SmartThings, offers the ultimate privacy via Knox security and is backed by seven years of upgrades for the Tizen UI to ensure you are getting the latest Vision AI technology for years to come.

The screen aboard the M9 is stunning thanks to Samsung’s 4K QD OLED technology with 250 nits of brightness that all comes together to provide incredible picture quality.

We watched a movie, played a game and connected it to our computer and found it to be a brilliant solution in all scenarios.

Naturally, the OLED panel offered stunning inky black levels and no blooming around brighter colours.

Also on board is Samsung’s OLED Safeguard+ – a proprietary cooling system which reduces the risk of OLED burn-in – a problem with static images displayed for lengthy periods on a regular OLED screen.

But there’s no such issue with the M9 thanks to the Pulsating Heat Pipe which is a heat dissipation sheet that diffuses heat across a wider area and cools the screen temperature without affecting brightness.

And not only does this help avoid burn-in, it also supports the M9’s 165Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time so you can enjoy the fast-paced action with the ultimate accuracy.

And the fact that it is NVIDIA G-Sync compatible means no more image tears in fast action scenes.

Samsung’s Vision AI leverages 128 AI neural networks to upscale content to near 4K resolution.

It does this by analysing images and restoring details pixel by pixel to present the best possible image.

At the same time, the AI Picture Optimizer adjusts the picture settings based on what you’re watching whether it’s a static document, streamed video content or a game.

And the Active Voice Amplifier Pro uses advanced audio processing so it can analyse scenes and distinguish and isolate dialogue from background noise for improved clarity.

The Samsung Tizen OS is the one stop shop to find all your favourite streaming apps including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Kayo Sports.

It also includes Samsung TV Plus, a range of more than 120 subscription free channels beamed out across the internet so users can access movies, music and other family-friendly content.

If you’re a gamer you also have access to Xbox Game Pass so you can enjoy the latest games and enjoy the incredible graphics and lifelike visuals on the M9’s OLED display.

When it’s time to get to work you can also connect your computer to the monitor.

In fact, you can wirelessly access and remotely control the PC on the M9 Smart Monitor so you can enjoy a PC-free desktop.

It even has Microsoft 360 built in so you can view and edit documents directly on the M9 while Multiview provides dual screen support to maximise your productivity.

The M9 also has a built in 4K camera so you can make video calls and attend virtual meetings.

The screen is also customizable thanks to its slim metal design so you can pivot the display up to 90-degrees vertically to suit the content you’re working on as well as adjusting the stand to bring the monitor’s height to a suitable level and tilt the monitor to the perfect angle.

The Samsung smart monitor M9 is available now and is priced at $2,499.
