LG, the leader in OLED technology for the last 13 years, has released the LG OLED evo W6 – a super thin wireless TV. And in doing so the company has revived an OLED icon that we first saw in 2017 – the Wallpaper TV.
Launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the LG OLED evo W6 is just 9mm thick and can be flush mounted to the wall.
And unlike the previous Wallpaper TV which had a separate soundbar unit to fit in most of the electronics, the W6 is self-contained thanks to a complete reengineering of the internal architecture to maintain its sleek and lightweight design without compromising the TV’s structural integrity.
And customers will be able to place the TV just about anywhere in their home with all inputs located in LG’s Zero Connect Box which can sit up to 10m away and still deliver lossless 4K video.
And despite the thin silhouette the viewing experience still offers LG’s typical flagship picture quality.
“The Wallpaper TV represents the beautiful convergence of our True Wireless leadership, form factor innovation, and 13 years of OLED mastery,” said Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company. “LG continues to raise the bar for OLED TVs, setting the standard for what’s next.”
Also launched at CES was LG’s next standard for OLED – Hyper Radiant Colour Technology – which improves black levels, colour accuracy and brightness.
It is this technology that enables the LG W6 Wallpaper OLED to be its brightest ever.
The W6 is up to 3.9 times brighter than a conventional OLED.
What also helps maintain brightness is the Reflection Free Premium certification from Intertek so users can enjoy distraction-free viewing.
And these visual enhancements would not be possible without the power of the new a(Alpha) 11 AI Processor Gen 3 which includes a Neural Processing Unit that is 5.6 times more powerful than the previous year of OLED evo models.
This enables the new Dual AI Engine which can maintain texture and reduce noise at the same time for a sharper and more balanced image.
The pricing and availability of the new LG OLED evo W6 Wallpaper TV is yet to be announced.
It is expected in Australia in the second half of the year.
