Samsung has discontinued the super thin Galaxy smartphone – introduced last year with the S25 Edge – so we will not be seeing the S26 Edge.
At the Samsung Unpacked event today we saw the introduction of the S26, the S26+ and the S26 Ultra AI phones – but no S26 Edge.
It was at last year’s S25 event in San Jose where we were given the first tease of the S25 edge – this new super thin device which would be released in the middle of the year.

This move was a spoiler by Samsung to ensure they had a product in market that would go up against Apples at that time heavily rumoured super thin device that would be called the Phone Air.
Samsung says the S25 Ultra made up more than 60 per cent of sales of the Galaxy S family in 2025 so one can safely assume the S25 Edge only formed a small portion of those sales despite its stunning super thin design and positive reviews.
By those sales breakdowns, it was obvious that customers we’re interested mainly in devices with larger batteries and more sophisticated camera systems.
We understand Samsung’s decision to not include the S26 Edge in the latest S26 line-up announced today was made relatively late and was one of the reasons the Unpacked event, usually held in January for the last couple of years, was taking place in late January.
After Apple’s iPhone air was released in September, it fell well below sales forecasts with retailers and Apple Stores holding lots of extra stock while the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models sold out.
Apple is also considering discontinuing the iPhone air because it failed to meet its high expectations.
It had an impressively thin and light design but to achieve this it had a much smaller battery and a single camera system and couldn’t match the other iPhones in the lineup for battery life and performance.
