Seagate’s Backup Plus Hub is compatible with Windows and Mac computers.

Users can even interchange the drive between different computers without reformatting when you install the NTFS driver for Mac.

The device is 18.8cm long, 3.67cm wide and 11.8cm high so it’s has a small footprint for your desktop and will not take up too much room.

Also included in the solution is the Seagate Dashboard which you can download for free and install on PC and Mac.

This software adds a lot of functionality and convenience to your backups whether you want to store your data locally on the Seagate drive itself or in the cloud.

You can also back up your mobile devices wirelessly to the drive or to the cloud as long as they are on the same network as the computer that’s connected to drive.

These mobile devices need to be running Seagate’s free backup app for iOS and Android to enable local backup or a backup on cloud services like Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft’s OneDrive.

While it’s a solid platform, the dashboard and mobile app could be a little more intuitive and offer more options especially when backing up mobile devices. We would have loved to back up mobile devices through thew USB port rather than wirelessly on the network.

Seagate’s Backup Plus Hub actually comes with 200GB of free OneDrive cloud storage.

There’s no iCloud backup offered here because Apple can offer that without the need of the Seagate hard drive.

But Apple computer users can easily set up the Seagate Backup Plus Hub as their Time Machine drive so your Mac will back itself up automatically.

The Seagate Dashboard can also look after social media uploads of pictures and videos and also download your content from sites like Facebook and Flickr and back them up to the Backup Plus Hub.

And if you do need to restore a computer or mobile device, the Seagate Backup Plus Hub can also make that happen through the dashboard as well.

The Seagate Backup Plus Hub is priced at $229 (4TB) and $419 (8TB)
