DJI has released its latest OsmoAudio product, the DJI Mic 3, a compact and light solution to ensure high quality audio performance and versatility.
With the Mic 3, DJI has taken the product to another level with the capability of connecting up to four transmitters and eight receivers.
It’s also the first system to feature an adaptive gain control that automatically prevents clipping or dynamically balances the volume along with three voice tone presets and two-level noise cancelling.
Also included for the first time is dual-file 32-bit float internal recording with 32GB of storage.
Weighing just 16g, the DJI Mic 3 transmitter is small and discreet.

They are a lot smaller than the Mic 2 transmitters and two achieve the smaller size DJI removed the port to connect a lapel microphone so you’re only option is having the transmitter either clipped on your shirt in full view or discreetly positioned under your clothing with the magnets.
The detachable clip allows the microphone to be angled to ensure optimal audio capture no matter how it’s been attached.

The microphone can be worn with either a clip-on attachment or with a magnet.
There are a number of intelligent features aboard the DJI M3 that allows for dynamic high-quality sound recording.
For the first time this DJI microphone has two adaptive gain control modes.
And if you’re outdoors in a noisy environment like a sporting event, the automatic mode suppresses sudden volume spikes and prevents clipping.
Dynamic mode can adjust gain in response to changes in volume, so you’re assured of having consistent loudness which is perfect for quiet indoor settings like studios.
Another first for the Mic 3 are three voice tone presets regular, rich and bright which are ideal for people who have different vocal characteristics.
It can boost low frequencies to reduce muddiness and enhance high frequencies to improve clarity.
And in the background is two-level active noise cancelling which can reduce ambient sounds including things like air conditioning noises, so you’re left with crisp and clear audio.
The DJI Mic 3 is the only mini wireless microphone that can support up to four transmitters and eight receivers at the same time.
There’s a single receiver and two transmitters in the charging case with additional transmitters and receivers able to be purchased separately.
Having this sort of flexibility means you’re able to conduct a group interview or a multi-camera production and still get crystal clear audio through every device.
And when set to quadraphonic mode, the DJI Mic 3 receiver, when paired with some Sony cameras or computer software, can support independent output of four audio tracks.
This is perfect for those times when you need precise track separation to give you even more options in post-production.
The DJI Mic 3 has an impressive range of up to 400m and can also work without too much interference thanks to automatic frequency hopping between 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz bands to come up with solid transmission.
Internal recording provides a nice backup if you ever experience wireless interference or device issues so you’ll never have any worry about lost audio.
The Mic dual-file internal recording saves the original track and the algorithm-enhanced version as well to give you more flexibility in post-production.
Internal recording can be set to either 24-bit or 32-bit floating point which offers a dynamic range that can be better suited to complex sound environments so you’re capturing every tiny nuance of the vocals.
When fully charged, the Mic 3 transmitter can run for up to an impressive eight hours with the receiver lasting up to 10 hours.
The charging case offers 2.4 full charges which means you get a total of 28 hours of usage.
But the great thing is if you find the mic is out of charge, simply connect it for 5 minutes which will then provide enough power for two hours of recording while just 15 minutes can get you back to 100 per cent.
DJI Mic 3 slots perfectly into the DJI OsmoAudio ecosystem and can pair with Osmo 360, Osmo Action 5 Pro, Osmo Action 4 or the Osmo Pocket 3 without a receiver to deliver high quality audio well would you sing the amount of gear you need to carry around.
