Samsung announces price and availability of 55-inch Odyssey Ark gaming monitor

Samsung has announced the pricing and availability of the 55-inch Odyssey Ark Gaming monitor that wraps around the player’s field of view thanks to its stunning 1000R curvature.

Pre-orders for the Odyssey Ark have already kicked off before it is available to purchase from Samsung’s Online Store and Harvey Norman from October 24.

It will be priced at $4,499.

“We are excited to bring this unique screen to our shores to give local gamers access to a new standard of immersive gaming and a winning edge every time they play.” says Phil Gaut, Senior Director – Display & Brand Memory, Samsung Australia.

“The Odyssey Ark brings together cinematic picture quality, immersive surround sound, and an incredibly flexible interface that enables gamers to compete, socialise, and multi-task during game play without missing a beat.

“When it’s time to hang up their headphones, gamers have access to a premium Smart TV entertainment and lifestyle experience all in one epic monitor.”

The Odyssey Ark delivers 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and a new rotating cockpit mode.

The 55-inch screen is designed to wrap around your field of view thanks to that extreme curvature.

In Cockpit Mode the screen can rotate with its height adjustable stand as well as tilt and pivot to create an optimal screen environment.

The Samsung’s Quantum Matrix Technology uses Quantum Mini LEDs and 14-bit processing, so gamers have an extraordinary range of both dark and bright scenes with 16,384 black levels for ultra-realistic graphics.

The million to one static contrast ratio emphasises the details and provide incredible clarity.

The Odyssey Ark can also upscale content to 4K quality thanks to data generated from 20 neural networks.

The Odyssey Ark also uses Samsung’s Matte Display and Sound Dome technology.

Matte Display reduces reflection and glare to remove distractions and help keep you focused in on the game.

The Sound Dome technology includes an AI Sound Booster and Dolby Atmos for a stunning surround sound experience through the four speakers positioned at each corner of the screen and the two central woofers.

And that all adds up to a 60W 2.2.2 channel audio experience.

Users can customise the Odyssey Ark screen size, position and even aspect ratio to provide the perfect gaming setup.

Also included is the solar powered Ark Dial, the exclusive controller for Odyssey Ark to access and control several settings.

Flex Move Screen allows users to change screen size between 55 and 27 inches and adjust the screen position and switch the screen ratio between 16:9, 21:9 and 32:9 all through the Ark Dial.

Odyssey Ark can also be utilised in the vertical position, so viewers are in complete control of their viewing experience.

Game Bar is a powerful control centre which allows users to quickly view and access gaming status and important settings including FPS (frames per second), HDR (high dynamic range) and VRR (variable refresh rate) through to screen ratio and response time.

Samsung’s Odyssey Ark goes on sale on October 24 for $4,499.
