Apple will be releasing its new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro more than two weeks early to enable an added level of versatility including a built-in track pad to offer a more laptop-like experience.
Originally slated for a May release, the Magic Keyboard is available to pre-order now for delivery early next week.
The Magic Keyboard attaches magnetically to the new and previous generations of the iPad Pro and holds the device above a new backlit keyboard which uses the same scissor mechanism used in the latest MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
The keys offer 1mm of travel for a comfortable and quiet typing experience as the iPad Pro itself floats in place above it thanks to the new cantilevered design.
The click-anywhere track pad also adds another layer of convenience to control the circular cursor which now a part of iPadOS so you can use it just like a laptop.
Also onboard the Magic Keyboard is a USB-C port in the hinge which offers passthrough charging so the USB-C port on the iPad Pro itself can be used for other things like connecting an external monitor, a USB drive or a camera.
Apple has done well to bring Magic Keyboard to market more than two weeks earlier than announced considering the production and distribution issues it has dealt with during the coronavirus crisis.
The Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro is priced at $499 for the 11-inch iPad Pro and $589 for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
