Sony unveils 2023 Bravia XR TV range for an enhanced home viewing experience

Sony has launched its 2023 Bravia XR TV line-up which delivers even higher picture quality and enhanced audio to deliver a stunning experience at home for movies, sport and gaming.

There are three new models – A90L Full Array LED, A95L QD-OLED and A90L OLED.

The new TVs are powered by Sony’s Cognitive Processor XR which includes Clear Image Technology that reduces noise and enhances clarity while smoothing out the image when watching sport of action movies.

The Cognitive Processor XR also takes control of the local dimming zones so it can increase brightness and yet prevent excess blooming.

On the audio side, it pays to stick with Sony when considering a soundbar thanks to the Acoustic Centre Sync feature which leverages both the TV’s and soundbars speakers to work powerfully together.

Naturally Sony’s new BRAVIA XR TVs work brilliantly with Sony sound including the HT-A7000, HT-A5000 and HT-A3000 soundbars

Pairing a Sony soundbar to a 2023 Bravia XR TV also enables 360 Spatial Sound Mapping which creates amazing virtual surround sound.

Tech Guide had a demonstration of this feature and you’d swear you’re sitting in a home theatre surrounded by multiple speakers.

And the A95L and A80L OLED models includes Acoustic Surface Audio+ which actually produces sound from the screen.

This means actors voices and other onscreen sounds will come from the screen instead of through a centre channel below the screen.

And if you also own a PlayStation 5 and connect the console to the Bravia XR TV you can take your gaming experience to another level and unlock features like Auto HDR Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode so picture quality is optimised to suit the game you’re playing.

There’s also an easy-to-access Game Menu to access settings for VRR (variable refresh rate) or Motion Blur Reduction.

Game Menu is also handy for brightening up dark areas of the screen so you can get the jump on your opponents.

Later this year another feature will be available which reduced the size of the screen for your game so players can focus on a smaller screen.

What’s also available on the Sony TVs is Bravia Core a streaming service that offers access to Sony’s entire film catalogue.

With the purchase of a new Sony Bravia XR TV, customers can redeem up to 10 current or catalogue films and up to 24 months of unlimited streaming.

The movies are delivered via Pure Stream which Sony says delivers enough bandwidth to surpass the bit rate of playing a movie off a 4K disc.

The Sony Bravia XR TVs are running Google TV operating system which offers access to all the major entertainment and streaming apps.

BRAVIA XR X90L – available 55, 65, 75 and 85-inch

– has full array LED contrast and colour

BRAVIA XR A95L – available in 55,65 and 77-inch

– QD-OLED screen with XR Triluminos Max technology with up to 200 per cent brightness of conventional OLED TV.

BRAVIA XR A80L 0 available in 55, 65, 77 and 83-inch

– XR OLED Contrast Pro and XR Triluminos that 110 per cent brighter than last year’s model.
