Oppo has released its latest affordable smartphone – the A5 5G – which offers a sleek design, IP65 water and dust resistance and a massive 6,000 mAh battery.
Priced at $299, the Oppo A5 5G is built for the Australian lifestyle with military grade shock resistance and a double tempered glass screen whether you’re outdoors, on the move or on a job site.

“We’ve engineered the A5 5G with the features customers need most, long-lasting battery life, enhanced durability, and cutting-edge AI technology, all at a price that makes high performance accessible to everyone.”
The Android device has a 6.67-inch display and is running the ColorOS 15 user interface.
It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 Mobile Platform with 4GB ram and 128GB storage.
The device also includes a microSD card slot to expand the storage even further.
The Oppo A5 5G is a slim 7.99mm thick and weighs just 194g.
Under the hood is the huge 6000 mAh battery that sets a new standard at this price point.
It offers up to 18.86 hours of uninterrupted video streaming, 22.4 hours of voice calls and more than 508 hours of standby time.
The battery also has a five-year lifespan thanks to a combination of advanced hardware and intelligent software developed by Oppo.
This means the battery will be able to retain more than 80 per cent of its original capacity after 1700 recharges – the equivalent of five years of typical use.
Another feature not usually seen with affordable smartphones is the 45W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge technology so you can recharge even faster.
On the camera side, there is a 50AMP main camera, a 2MP depth camera and an 8MP front camera.
The smartphone also includes Google’s Gemini AI assistant an AI-powered photography tools.
The Oppo A5 5G is priced at $299 and is available now from JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, Big W and the Oppo Australia’s official online store.
