LG reveals its powerhouse new V30 smartphone at IFA in Berlin

LG has unveiled the powerhouse new V30 smartphone – the latest in its flagship V Series – with multimedia features to offer users a high-end experience to create and enjoy content on the move.

The device, unveiled at the IFA tech trade show in Berlin, has a 6-inch 18:9 Quad HD+ OLED FullVision display with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 and 538ppi (pixels per inch).

It has remarkably thin bezels to give customers an unhindered view of their apps and their content.

Under the hood are a number of industry innovations including the first f1.6 aperture camera lens on a mobile device, the first Crystal Clear Lens, the first OLED FullVision display and Cine Video mode for creating cinema quality videos.

Also onboard is advanced audio with Quad DAC, sound tuning by B&O Play and voice recognition which can be used to unlock your phone.

The LG V30 has a slim and sleek design with gentle curves but with enhanced durability thanks to its H-Beam structure found in modern buildings that gives it tensile strength.

V30 also has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and has passed 14 categories of military grade durability tests.

It is just 7.3mm thick and only weighs 158g making it one of the lightest phones in the 6-inch screen category.

It is actually 8mm shorter and 3mm narrower than its predecessor – the V20.

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile platform processor and has 4GB RAM, 64GB internal memory and a microSD card slot to expand the storage capacity.

The LG V30 also has an IP68 rating so it is water and dust resistant.

DISPLAY

The QHD+ OLED FullVision display offers faster response times so it offers smooth playback when watching fast moving images and playing games.

It brings LG’s impressive OLED picture quality we’ve seen on their stunning TVs to the palm of your hand.

The screen supports the HDR10 format for stunning colour and whiter whites, deeper blacks and twice the range of colour and 64 times more shades in gradations.

CAMERA

The LG V30 has a dual lens 16 and 13-megapixel camera with a f1.6 aperture that will let in even more light.

Combined with its glass Crystal Clear Lens, the V30 camera delivers exceptional images that are clear and sharp.

The second lens in the V30 is a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens with two-thirds less edge distortion than the V20.

Cine Video mode lets you put your director hat on and create movies like a professional complete with powerful features like Cine Effect to apply a colour pallet and Point Zoom. The user can take their videos and add one of 15 preset cinematic hues to give it a unique look and feel.

lgv303

Point Zoom allows users to select the point in the image they’d like to zoom in on.

Also onboard is Cine Log so the user can preserve a wider dynamic range and colour gamut.

Photographers can also enjoy manual mode to get the most out of their still images by controlling things like shutter speed, exposure, white balance and ISO.

Users can also tap into the Graphy website and apply the same presets as the professional images for their own images.

HI-FI QUAD DAC

The LG V30 provides not only a great visual experience but an outstanding audio experience as well with audio tuning from renowned brand B&O Play.

The result is a superior sound experience which can be enjoyed with the included B&O Play earphones.

Four pre-programmed presets mix and match sound frequencies and decibel scales to produce the sort of audio quality found with professional headphones.

The V30 is the first smartphone to support MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) technology so you can stream high-resolution audio.

MQA can take the sound of the original master and pack it into a small file that’s easier to stream without compromising the sound quality.

VOICE RECOGNITION

The LG V30 includes Google Assistant so you can ask the device to complete tasks and find information including launching the camera and shooting video as well as playing your music.

Users can also take control of select LG appliances including a washing machine, dryer, refrigerator, robot vacuum and oven with Google Assistant.

BATTERY

The LG V30 has a 3,300mAh and supports wireless and fast charging. The device offers power efficiency through the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor so the battery can easily last the entire day.

And with fast charging you can achieve 50 per cent charge in just 30 minutes.

AVAILABILITY AND COLOURS

The LG V30 will be available in Australia in late September and will come in four colours – Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue and Lavender Violet.
