Reasons dating apps are losing to video chats

Every year, it is difficult to find a person who has never used online dating services. Today, there is a huge number of platforms for web dating; specialized dating sites and apps, social networks, instant messengers, various thematic forums, and random chats.

Each of these services, in one way or another, allows you to make new acquaintances, communicate with interesting people, spend time in the company of like-minded people, and so on. Nonetheless, there is an important trend; the active growth in the popularity of live video calls, which are increasingly attracting a larger audience when compared to traditional dating sites and apps. Why is that happening?

Advantages of random chats over dating apps and sites

Firstly, it’s worth making a small remark. Videochat and a dating app are different formats of web dating, and the principles of how they work are different. Nevertheless, both options can be used for online dating. However, the fact remains that more contemporaries are choosing random video calls and there are several reasons for this as presented below.

  • Fast interaction

One of the main advantages of video dating is the speed of interaction, while on dating apps, you spend time registering, filling out a profile, taking personality tests, and the like. Here you can start meeting new people right away. One click and you will find a new chat partner in front of you.

  • Security and anonymity

You can communicate with other people without revealing your personal information, which in turn reduces the risk of fraud or unwanted contact. Also, if the conversation doesn’t go well for any reason, you can switch to the next chat partner in one click.

  • Objective first impression

When communicating via video, it is much easier to get an objective and accurate picture of the chat partner than in text messaging. Unlike dating apps where people often present themselves through edited photos and embellished descriptions. In random videocalls, the user sees and hears the other person “as ii is.” This helps one to avoid disappointments and misunderstandings associated with the discrepancy between the real image and the online profile.

  • Comfortable dating atmosphere

Online video chats create a more natural and comfortable atmosphere for dating. You are in a familiar environment, and at the same time, you communicate with other people almost like in real life. Also, in such services communication happens spontaneously, which adds excitement and makes each new meeting more interesting. No texting in a dating app gives the same effect.

Saving time is an important factor for many users

The modern man lives at a very fast pace. Not everyone has an hour of free time a day to devote to an application or dating site. Moreover, this hour may not be enough for shallow communication.

Live video calls with strangers saves you a lot of time. You open a website or app, click “Start” and immediately meet a new person. In this format, 10-15 minutes of communication is enough to understand whether it is worth developing a relationship with this person or if it is better to move on.

Also, let’s not forget about the price issue. Premium subscriptions to popular dating apps can be expensive.  Most importantly, it does not guarantee successful and promising dating. At the same time, platforms are often free or provide services much cheaper. Therefore, their use will not be a serious blow to the budget.

How to choose the optimal online videochat for yourself

The answer to this question may seem simple at first glance. The basic principle of how work is essentially identical on all platforms; you launch an application and the system connects you with a random chat partner. It seems that the difference between the various platforms is insignificant. However, in practice, it does exist, sometimes, it can influence your choice greatly.

For clarity, we can look at several popular apps for video calls with strangers and compare them.

  • LivU — a random chat that duplicates other platforms in functionality. However, the developers claim that the platform contains 100% verified profiles and only real people can be found. It is impossible to talk about this with complete confidence, in general, using LivU can be comfortable and safe.
  • CooMeet — a functional and convenient live video chat with girls in which men can meet ladies without restrictions. All thanks to an unmistakably working gender filter, which, unlike most other apps, never connects men to other men. CooMeet has a convenient website, as well as branded apps for iOS and Android, excellent moderation and support service, and a built-in message translator so that you can comfortably communicate with foreigners.
  • Chatspin — a minimalistic, simple, and intuitive service with a basic gender filter. It does not work accurately when compared to CooMeet, but it copes with the task and tries to match interlocutors by gender. Chatspin is a good choice for beginners who are just getting acquainted with the video chat format and do not need a more extensive list of features and settings.
  • Shagle — another popular site. The main advantage is its large and active audience. According to the developers, Shagle is visited by more than three million users per month, and up to 100 thousand people per day. Platform operates in more than 70 countries, so you definitely won’t feel the lack of interesting chat partners.
  • RouletteChat — a simple resource, which can pleasantly surprise you. Firstly, the original gender filter allows you to choose the typical “Man” or “Woman” options, “Couple,” “Girlfriends,” or “Group.” This means that you can communicate in group videochats with many like-minded people.
  • Chatous — another good service in which you can chat, communicate via video, and conveniently search for chat partners based on your list of interests. Recently, the developers redesigned their service, qualitatively updating it, and making it more convenient than before.

Let’s sum it up

Certainly, we will not say that live video calls will completely displace traditional sites and apps for dating from the web dating industry in the future. This is not true because millions of people prefer to use classic web dating tools.

However, the trend towards popularizing this format has become more obvious recently. People are tired of endless text messaging, which often leads to nothing in the end. People want closer contact and live communication. And now users have such an opportunity!
