Qualcomm has released Snapdragon Elite Gen 5 – the world’s fastest Mobile System on a Chip (SoC) that has the potential to revolutionise the consumer mobile experience.

Qualcomm also unveiled the new Snapdragon X2 Elite and Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme – the fastest processors for Windows PCs at the global launch event in Maui, Hawaii.

SNAPDRAGON ELITE GEN 5

The Snapdragon Elite Gen 5 will enable even faster multitasking and instant and seamless app switching along with next level gaming performance.

Another by-product of the advanced new chip is power efficiency which will extend the battery life of our mobile devices despite their enhanced features and faster performance.

The 8-series SoC will also power agentic AI assistants and work across apps and will be capable of on device learning, real-time sensing and situation-based prompt enhancements.

On the video production side, the new chip will be the first mobile platform that can record in Advanced Professional Video to enable pro-level video production that’s supported by AI-powered camera technology.

“With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, you are at the center of your mobile experience. It enables personalized AI agents to see what you see, hear what you hear and think with you in real time,” said Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handset, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

“Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 pushes the boundaries of personal AI, allowing you to experience the future of mobile technology today.”

The new Snapdragon 8 Elite series will be featured in upcoming flagship devices from Honor, iQOO, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, POCO, realme, REDMI, RedMagic, ROG, Samsung, Sony, vivo, Xiaomi and ZTE.

SNAPDRAGON X2 ELITE & SNAPDRAGON X2 ELITE EXTREME

The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme has been made for ultra-premium Windows PCs to tackle professional workloads while the Snapdragon X2 Elite will suit resource-intensive workloads.

The new silicon promises superior performance, multi-day battery life and powerful on device AI.

The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme offers up to 75 per cent faster CPU performance than its competitors.

The Qualcomm Hexagon NPU can handle up to 80 TOPS of AI processing – the world’s fastest NPU for laptops.

“Snapdragon X2 Elite strengthens our leadership in the PC industry, providing legendary leaps in performance, AI processing and battery life to enable the experiences that consumers deserve,” said Kedar Kondap, SVP and GM of compute and gaming, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
