When you think of a baby monitor the first image that comes to mind is a camera, but the Owlet Smart Sock is a different kind of monitor that can track your child’s heart rate, oxygen level and sleep trends.

The Owlet Smart Sock fits on your baby’s foot and allows you to view your child’s readings in real time through the free Owlet companion app.

Technology has made it’s easier for first time parents to set up a nursery and keep an eye only a child.

Owlet has created a connected nursery ecosystem that’s designed to use technology to offer data for modern parents.

The company also makes a Video Baby Monitor ($249.99) which can stream full HD video with night vision and two-way audio.

With the Owlet Smart Sock, parents can monitor live readings of a baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels and if the oxygen level gets too low or the heart rate too high, you receive an immediate notification.

The Owlet Smart Sock is also a sleep monitor and can tell you the total hours slept, the number of times the baby woke up and the overall sleep quality.

This information alone allows parents to create suitable sleep routines as their child grows.

The device also comes with a base station that will connect to your home’s wi-fi network and offer at a glance readings with green being normal and flashing red and audio alerts indicating the baby’s readings are outside the preset zones.

The Owlet Smart Sock is made of soft fabric and wraps comfortably around your baby’s foot where it can monitor heart rate, oxygen and its sleep the unit itself has a built-in battery that will run for up to 16 hours.

A 20-minute charge will ensure eight-hour battery time with a 90-minute charge offering 16 hours of battery.

The Owlet device has been tested to medical device standards for accuracy and has been clinically validated so you can trust the information it offers.

The Owlet Smart Sock can fit most children up to 18 months with the Sock Plus and Smart Sock Extension Pack including fabric socks that fit children aged up to five years old or weighing up to 25kg

And if you happen to be the parents of twins, the good news is each baby can wear their own Owlet Smart Sock with both monitored at the same time on the outlet app.

The Owlet Smart Sock Is priced at $449.99 and is available in two sizes – Smart Sock for children aged up to 18 months and Smart Sock Plus for children aged up to five years old.

Owlet also sells the Monitor Duo which includes both the Smart Stock and the Cam for $649.99.
