The 20-20-20 rule is a simple way to help your eyes feel better, especially if you spend a lot of time in front of screens. Every 20 minutes, take a look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. This easy thing lets your eyes rest and refocus, which helps with the pain and tiredness that often come with using a screen for a long time.

Taking breaks often and following this rule gives your eyes a chance to rest from the constant focusing and adjusting that happens when you look at digital devices. This habit can greatly lower the chance of getting digital eye strain, which can cause headaches, dry eyes, and blurry vision. Using blue light glasses can also help reduce digital eye strain by filtering out harmful blue light emitted from screens, making it easier on your eyes throughout the day.

Maintain a Vision-Friendly Diet

Eating a balanced diet is very good for your eyes. Some vitamins and minerals can help keep your eyes healthy as you get older and lower your risk of getting cataracts and macular degeneration. Vitamins A, C, and E, as well as nutrients like lutein and zeaxanthin, are especially good for eye health. You can get these vitamins from a lot of different foods, like leafy greens, carrots, and citrus fruits.

Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, like fatty fish (salmon, sardines), nuts, and seeds, can also help keep your vision healthy. These nutrients help keep the retina healthy, improve circulation to the eyes, and may even help keep your eyes from getting dry.

Eating these foods on a regular basis can give your eyes the nutrients they need to work well, fight oxidative stress, and protect them from long-term damage. Eating a wide range of colorful fruits and vegetables will make sure that you get all the nutrients you need to keep your eyes healthy.

Stay Hydrated and Keep Your Eyes Moisturized

Dry eyes are one of the less well-known effects of spending a lot of time in front of screens. When you stare at a screen for a long time, you don’t blink as much, which can make your eyes dry, irritated, and uncomfortable. Drinking enough water is important for both your health and the health of your eyes.

Drinking a lot of water during the day helps keep your body’s natural moisture balance, even in your eyes. The sooner you catch these problems, the easier it is to stop them from getting worse and keep your vision.

Your vision may change over time, so it’s important to have an up-to-date prescription to make sure you can see clearly and comfortably. A lot of eye problems, like glaucoma, don’t show obvious signs until they’re very bad. That’s why it’s so important to get your eyes checked regularly.
